The Road less traveled

“I took the one less traveled by, [and] that has made all the difference” a poem by Robert Frost

I will make this short. To do what you want and to be who you really are is a liberating experience. Many occasions in my life I have subdued my passions and opted for the safe approach to life’s challenges. Playing it safe often leaves you feeling unfulfilled. Granted I would much rather be safe than sorry; however, in the cutthroat world that we live in that won’t get you ahead.

Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass said:

“You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken. Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it. Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path. Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look. Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching. March to the beat of your own drummer. And stubbornly refuse to fit in.”

The above-mentioned quote was the motivation for my actions. I took a chance’ I walked up to the CEO (of the not to be mentioned corporation) and shot my shot. Elevator pitched my idea, with the objective of getting a meeting with him to discuss idea in detail. The environment was the after party for the BET Awards, the scene was music industry styled packed with people. The common etiquette is not to approach people or not to make a scene by drawing attention to your self; but those rules were broken today. Over the past year I have prepared for this opportunity replaying it in my head and when I got a chance I am going for mine. I prepared plans of action via the Trello application, I built demos (websites and applications) of my ideas, I knew my facts and lastly I meditated and prayed about it. I was ready.

I went for mines! I approached the CEO and pitched my idea and to my surprise I got the desired response. I am not going to speak about the details of the opportunity yet, because they are finalized. However, my point is to encourage everyone to go for your dreams!!!!!
